Teck is looking for an experienced Maintenance Engineer to join our team at our Trail Operations, one of the world's largest fully integrated zinc and lead smelting and refining complexes. Reporting to the Superintendent, Maintenance Engineering, the Mechanical Engineer is accountable for providing Warfield business area with guidance on the integrity of equipment, risk assessments for repairs, and well-defined repair scopes for work that requires technical expertise beyond the skills of the supervisor, trade, or planner roles.
Warfield Operations utilizes raw materials from Trail Operations to produce commercial ammonium sulphate fertilizers. In this location some of the plants you will be working in are the Ammonia Plant, Granular Ammonium Sulphate Plant, Crystal Ammonium Plant, Germanium Refinery and Fertilizer storage and shipping.
Working in Warfield you will have the opportunity to work with a team on unique equipment that includes train rail car unloading, storage spheres, compressors, piping, valves, pumps, tanks, reactors, rotary kilns, screw conveyors, cyclones, bucket elevators, screens, scrubbers, fans, heat exchangers, crystallizers, centrifuges, distillation column, filters, condensers, cranes, belt conveyors, boilers, and baghouses.

Responsibilities:
- Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
- Manage the business area 5 & 20-year Major Maintenance and Capital Project portfolio
- Write Risk Based Business Assessment (RBBA) documents for proposed Major Maintenance and Capital Projects
- Build scopes of work for Major Maintenance and Capital Projects with sufficient detail for budgeting
- Manage design changes to equipment stemming from approved actions identified through failure investigations or assessments of chronic equipment identified in Trail’s Bad Actor process
- Conduct equipment condition assessments and create corrective actions for repair
- Support the asset integrity and asset renewal components within Asset Management Plans
- Execute engineering studies progressing through stage gate 1
- Deliver the Management of Change (MOC) process for modifications to equipment design
- Build commissioning plan as part of major maintenance repair scoping
- Supports the procurement process for non-standard or specialty parts
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with a specialization in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
- 4+ years of work experience in mining, smelting, refining, or similar heavy industrial facilities
- Applicants need to be eligible for registration or registered with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of B.C. (“EGBC”) as this will be a condition of employment. Teck will support eligible employees with their EGBC registration.
- Strong communication skills as well as effective interpersonal and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent computer skills and proficient with MS Office
- Familiarity with CMMS systems is an asset

Salary Range: $101,000 - $125,000
The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
