Cost Analyst

Location: 

Trail, BC, CA

Reporting to the Superintendent Financial Reporting, the Cost Analyst will be responsible to create and analyze production and financial reports; review and monitor internal controls within the company’s accounting software; aid in testing of financial systems updates; and administer and complete month-end procedures for Accounts Receivable and inventories for numerous products sold for Trail Operations.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor system generated internal control integrity reports, identify discrepancies, investigate issues, make recommendations and resolve issues as required.  Coordinate and assist in testing of financial software changes.
  • Aid in the development of production, cost and financial analysis reports by utilizing business intelligence tools 
  • Prepare monthly inventory schedules for various products. Prepare excel based inventory valuation reports required to review the valuation of various products
  • Prepare month-end journal entries
  • Perform month-end reconciliations for various balance sheet accounts.
  • Prepare and issue invoices for sales in accordance with financial terms of sales agreements and contracts
  • Administer Accounts Receivable
  • Perform adhoc cost analysis as requested.
  • Aid in the preparation of departmental operating budgets and forecasts.
  • Prepare statistical reports for the government and other outside agencies as needed.
  • Observe all safety and hygiene regulations and procedures in the performance of duties.
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications

  • Degree in Business with preference to those with a major in Accounting
  • Experience in working with Business Intelligence tools (such as PowerBI or QlikSense)
  • Experience in using ERP systems such as JD Edwards
  • Strong computer skills or education
  • Effective communication and problem-solving skills
