Senior Corporate Accountant

Are you seeking an exciting career opportunity with a large prestigious company? We are searching for a Senior Accountant that will be responsible for managing the full cycle accounting of Teck American Inc. and subsidiaries. The role is responsible for all aspects of general ledger accounting and reporting, along with reviewing the accounts payable and payroll functions.

 

This position serves as a liaison to other groups, including Tax, Legal, Treasury, and Consolidation, and involves collaborating with Managers from various departments. It presents an excellent opportunity to become part of a small, close-knit team, with the career growth opportunities of a large international company.

Responsibilities:

  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhering to and promoting safety and environmental rules and procedures.
  • Handle full cycle general ledger accounting, balance sheet reconciliations, fixed asset sub-ledger, and review of accounts payable and payroll functions.
  • Prepare month-end and year-end close activities and reporting, HO consolidation data requirements and tax filing data requirements.
  • Ensure accurate and timely preparation of financial statements and management reporting.
  • Maintain and improve internal controls and SOX compliance.
  • Develop and implement accounting procedures to streamline processes, improve efficiency and enhance overall effectiveness of the accounting department.

Qualifications:

 

  • Accounting designation (CPA, CMA, etc.) and/or a bachelor’s degree in accounting.
  • Extensive knowledge of US GAAP and/or IFRS 
  • 3-5+ years of experience in a similar role at a large organization or a public accounting firm.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • Proficient in accounting software and report writing applications.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, capable of fostering team rapport and cultivating strong relationships throughout the office.
  • Strong financial acumen, with the ability to analyze and interpret financial data and convey it meaningfully to non-accountants.

We offer Flex Work, providing employees with access to flexible work options, including the opportunity to work remotely up to two days a week, flexible start/end times within normal business hours, and the ability to work remotely for two full weeks per year, either combined or as separate weeks.

 

The wage scale ranges from $70,000 to $90,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications. This full-time, regular position offers the employee (and their eligible dependents) a comprehensive flexible benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. The employee is also covered by Long-Term Disability insurance and can enroll in our company’s 401k plan. In this role, the employee will accrue a minimum of 10 days of vacation leave and 12 paid sick days (1 per month) throughout the calendar year, along with ten paid holidays. Other compensation includes, but is not limited to, an annual bonus and profit-sharing.
