Are you seeking an exciting career opportunity with a large prestigious company? We are searching for a Payroll Administrator who will be responsible for all aspects of the payroll process, of Teck American Inc. The role is responsible for processing payroll, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations, and reporting requirements. 

 

This position reports to the Controller, is in Spokane, WA, and is responsible for processing three semi-monthly American payrolls for approximately 100 employees using “SAP Employee Central”, an integrated HR and payroll application. The position serves as the go-to person for all payroll matters and involves collaborating with Managers from various departments. Responsibilities:

 

  • Ensure all salaries and wages are paid accurately and on schedule. 
  • Compile and coordinate forms & data from various departments and ensure the accuracy of the payroll information provided.
  • Calculation of pay adjustments, overtime, and statutory holiday pay.
  • Payroll batch input, reconciliation, and validation in the “SAP Employee Central” HR & Payroll application.
  • Maintain and process statutory and voluntary deductions, allowances, and premiums.
  • Facilitation of the direct deposit bank file to the bank as well as the preparation of electronic funds transfers as required.
  • Respond to external and internal inquiries in a professional, courteous, and timely manner.
  • Remittance of all payroll deductions and benefits to third parties.
  • Initiates, recommends, and implements improvements in the preparation of payroll data.
  • Prepare and process journal entries including analysis of transactions and preparation of reconciliations of payroll liability and payroll bank accounts.
  • Tax remittances and returns for multiple states and Internal Revenue Service.
  • Maintain and research up-to-date information of state and federal laws affecting pay, benefits, and taxes for all U.S. business units, frequently contacting such agencies as required to assure compliance.
  • Preparation of all yearend slips such as W2’s

Qualifications:

 

  • Preference towards a payroll designation (Certified Payroll Professional) and/or a bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • 3-5+ years of practical payroll experience from payroll input to output including year-end slips.
  • Experience with multiple state payrolls is an asset.
  • Knowledge of payroll, payroll accounting, and HR practices.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, MS Outlook, and SharePoint.
  • Working payroll accounting knowledge and experience with payroll liability reconciliations is an asset.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.

We offer Flex Work, providing employees with access to flexible work options, including the opportunity to work remotely up to two days a week, flexible start/end times within normal business hours, and the ability to work remotely for two full weeks per year, either combined or as separate weeks.

 

The wage scale ranges from $62,000 to $82,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications. This full-time, regular position offers the employee (and their eligible dependents) a comprehensive flexible benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. The employee is also covered by Long-Term Disability insurance and can enroll in our company’s 401k plan. In this role, the employee will accrue a minimum of 10 days of vacation leave and 12 paid sick days (1 per month) throughout the calendar year, along with ten paid holidays. Other compensation includes but is not limited to, an annual bonus and profit-sharing.
