Inventory Specialist, Materials

Reporting to the Inventory Supervisor, the Inventory Specialist, Materials is responsible for the analysis and optimization of Teck Coal’s inventory on a Business Unit or Corporate basis.

Responsibilities:

  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Supervise and analyze inventory within the Material Replenishment Planning database using effective inventory management techniques including stocking strategies, service level reviews, inventory classifications
  • Work closely within Procurement and Operations teams to determine minimum and maximum levels and company Classification Standards
  • Complete reviews focusing on maintaining appropriate safety stock coverage which complements effective Maintenance planning
  • Contribute to appropriate inventory optimization
  • Provide statistical analysis of inventory encompassing inventory turns, excess and obsolescence reviews, inventory movement reviews, right sized inventory levels, value optimization, and analyzing flow of supply
  • Perform investigations into inventory discrepancies and concerns
  • Ensure adherence to any corporate strategy or policies, and standardize and promote best practices
  • Participate in tactical or strategic initiatives or objectives with respect to inventory
  • Participate in achieving customer service levels
  • Collect, track, report and achieve the Inventory Key Performance Indicators

 

Qualifications:

  • Minimum five years of experience in an inventory or materials role, or Degree or Diploma in Business Administration or Supply Chain Management, or equivalent experience will also be considered
  • Excellent digital literacy including Microsoft Office Suite
  • Understanding of Material Requirements Planning, and familiarity with inventory planning
