Utility Equipment Operator (Contract - 5 months)

Job Summary

Galore Creek Mining Corporation is seeking a Utility Equipment Operator to support field operations at the Galore Creek Project in northwest British Columbia.  Initially reporting to the Field Operations Supervisor, this role is primarily responsible for supporting camp services and technical studies throughout the site while helping to ensure safe and efficient day-to-day operations in accordance with GCMC policies and procedures and regulatory requirements.

 

The general responsibilities will primarily be conducted at two remote camps. These responsibilities will include basic mid-sized equipment operation and general labour supporting the running of the remote camps.

 

Located in the territory of the Tahltan Nation in northwestern British Columbia, Galore Creek is one of the world’s largest undeveloped copper-gold-silver deposits. Galore Creek Mining Corporation (GCMC), a partnership between Newmont Corporation (Newmont) and Teck Resources Limited (Teck), is committed to advancing the asset towards a development decision with meaningful input from the Tahltan Nation and BC regulators. This position will be based at the Galore Creek project site on a 15 on / 13 off rotational basis inclusive of travel. This rotation is subject to change as the project requires. Start date for this role is anticipated to be May 2024 and the role will be for approximately 5 months.

Responsibilities

  • Be a courageous safety leader, leading by example and fostering a proactive safety and sustainability culture on the common values of health, safety, environment and social responsibility shared by Teck and Newmont (the Partners).
  • Operate mobile equipment (ie. Skidsteer, loaders, forklifts, etc) in a safe manner following GCMC’s environmental and safety guidelines.
  • Perform support activities including labour and equipment operation in and around camps and along the project access infrastructure.
  • Operate mobile equipment safely in close proximity of personnel, and in support of labour crews.

 

The above responsibilities and accountabilities are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all-inclusive.

 

Qualifications

  • Certified mobile equipment operator (Ideally certified to operate: Skidsteer, Loader, and Forklift)
  • Certification and experience with other mobile equipment such as excavator, grader, lifts and rock trucks a strong asset.
  • Highly motivated with a strong work ethic and positive attitude.
  • Hold a valid non-restricted Class 5 driver’s license.
  • Ability to work in challenging remote terrain, uneven surfaces, and all-weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift 50lbs.
  • High School diploma or better.
  • WHMIS certification.
  • Minimum 2 years’ mobile equipment operation experience.

 

Pay Range (annualized salary): $90,000 - $115,000

Pay Range (day rate equivalent): $450 - $600
