Job Summary

 

Reporting to the Camp Supervisor, the Camp Lead is responsible for supporting field operations at the Galore Creek Project in northwest British Columbia. This outstanding individual will ensure the safe and efficient day-to-day operation of the camp, including supervision of camp maintenance, catering and janitorial staff or contractors in accordance with GCMC policies, procedures and regulatory requirements.

 

This outstanding position will be based at the Galore Creek project site on a 15 on/13 off rotational basis, inclusive of travel. This rotation is subject to change as the project requires. 

 

The start date for this role is anticipated to be June 2025, and the end date will be approximately October 2025.

Located in the territory of the Tahltan Nation in northwestern British Columbia, Galore Creek is one of the world’s largest undeveloped copper-gold-silver deposits. Responsibilities:

 

  • Be a courageous safety leader; adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures.

  • Work with the Site Operations team to schedule, plan, and provide accommodation to staff during the execution of environmental, technical, and site-sustaining operations.

  • Supervise camp services, including maintenance, catering and janitorial, ensuring compliance with GCMC procedures and provincial and federal regulations as they pertain to camps.

  • Lead camp projects from inception to completion.

  • Develop multiyear plans for sustaining site assets.

  • Participate in the GCMC Health and Safety program (including SOP and JSA development and daily participation in daily tailgate safety meetings and reviews).

  • Participate in project management meetings.

  • Provide mentorship and supervision for the site catering, janitorial, maintenance and staff.

  • Oversee labour crews and mobile equipment crews conducting camp maintenance activities as the need arises.

  • Support the contractor to manage food and cleaning supply inventories.

  • Review and approve menus and grocery orders.

  • Manage maintenance equipment and supply inventories.

  • Facilitate the daily reporting of camp numbers.

  • Book, assign and track rooms for field staff.

  • Document and report water and wastewater sampling and flow results and incinerator volumes while ensuring permit requirements are met.

  • Maintain camp checklists and audits and report weekly.

  • Assist in year-end reporting processes.

Qualifications:

 

  • A minimum of 5-10 years of camp maintenance or camp management experience with growing responsibility, preferably in mining and/or construction.

  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent experience. Postsecondary experience is an asset.

  • Must hold or be capable of acquiring a Mines Supervisory Certificate.

  • Hold a valid driver’s license.

  • Knowledge of furnaces, hot water tanks, propane systems, fuel systems, incinerators, appliances, kitchen equipment, dishwashers, washers, and dryers.

  • Exposure to workforce accommodation scheduling software (ex. Nomadis).

  • Familiarity with sewage RBC systems as well as field and lagoon systems.

  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite of software.

  • Ability to work in remote terrain, uneven surfaces, and all-weather conditions.

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.

  • Trade skills, Food Safe, WHMIS, and forklift/bobcat certifications are all an asset.

  • Experience working with and around large mobile equipment is an asset.

  • Training in water quality testing is a plus. 

 

Hourly Range: $40 - $80 

 

The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
