 Reporting to the Training and Development Advisor. The Trainer is accountable for the preparation of training manuals and facilitating training courses that are required and defined by management. 
 

Responsibilities:

•    Prepare and update training materials by utilizing established trade knowledge and skills requirements necessary to ensure that trainee’s receive adequate training in their specific work tasks to protect their health and safety and competency for assigned tasks
•    Ensure the proper reporting and paperwork is completed in accordance with standards and regulations for Red Dog Operations
•    Provide safety task training for all employees as per MSHA regulations and to ensure employees are properly trained prior to approaching work
•    Organize and facilitate Regulatory Compliance Training Courses specific to MSHA 30 CFR 48.25 (MSHA New Miner Training), 30 CFR 48.28 (MSHA Annual Refresher Training) & 30 CFR 48.26 (Experienced Miner Training)
•    Organize and facilitate supervisory/developmental training such as/but not limited to Reasonable Suspicion, Fatigue Management, Mental Health, Respectful Workplace
•    Facilitate classroom training using the developed training modules, while creating learning situations where trainees can demonstrate competency in advancing their knowledge and skills
•    Measure and evaluate trainee performance against the training objectives in regards to competency and self-motivation within the classroom, involvement with specific equipment and project assignments
•    Provide current status on all training by issuing reports to management and maintaining frequent contact with departmental supervision who conduct the on-the-job training
•    Establish Personal Goals and Objectives annually that align with Departmental Goals and Objectives. (These require Supervisor approval and will be evaluated in regards to attainment during Performance Planning and Coaching reviews)
•    Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications:

•    Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a mining or related industry 
•    Minimum of three (3) years of demonstrated training, leadership or coaching experience
•    Ability to obtain or already possess a “blue card” as an MSHA approved instructor
•    Demonstrate commitment to safety with working knowledge of MSHA standards
•    Ability to work well with others and have a professional demeanor
•    Knowledge and understanding of Federal, State and Local laws and regulations regarding occupational safety and health
•    Possess good communication skills, both verbal and written
•    Able to present to individuals and or large groups 
•    Excellent organization and multi-tasking skills
•    Committed to continuous improvement
•    Strong computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and other programs utilized for training tracking purposes.
•    Valid Alaska Driver’s License is preferre
