Reporting to the Manager, Operations & Maintenance Execution, the Superintendent, Mill Maintenance is accountable for managing the maintenance activities of the fixed plant operations. This includes the planning, budgeting, scheduling, and managing of maintenance and operating activities in a safe, productive, and cost-effective fashion.

 

Responsibilities: 

 

  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Embed safe work systems and practices
  • Promote a work environment which supports safe and efficient behaviour on the job and an awareness of and compliance with environmental, safety, engineering, and Mines Act requirements
  • Encourage leadership amongst team members through development planning, clear objective setting and recognition as well as actively supporting the career development of the team 
  • Ensure the cost effectiveness of mill maintenance activities and support the cost effectiveness of mill operations through the implementation of an effective maintenance program
  • Develop and implement an asset management strategy through the direction of the Mill Reliability team, to ensure the efficient and timely planning, scheduling and execution of work. Doing the right work at the right time. 
  • Work with representatives from the Processing Inside, Processing Outside, Mine Operations and Mine Planning departments to ensure that overall site production targets are met.
  • Develop departmental operating and capital budgets
  • Be accountable for plan variances and ensure completeness and consistency in cost reporting and monthly forecasting processes
  • Ensure that the Mill Maintenance department administers the collective agreement in a manner consistent with Company policies and procedures
  • Ensure that a long-term development plan is in place and executed upon to optimize the efficiency of maintenance execution.

 

Qualifications: 

 

  • Extensive knowledge of mining practices, equipment capabilities, mechanical/electrical maintenance principles, budgeting/costing systems, maintenance planning systems, and appropriate regulations and standards
  • A BSc. in Engineering or equivalent with Mechanical specialization or equivalent combination of education and maintenance experience
  • Have a minimum 10 years’ of progressively senior level experience, preferably in a unionized environment
  • Have considerable experience in operating departments of base metal concentrators including working with technical groups
  • Have thorough knowledge of fixed plant equipment maintenance
  • Proven and exemplary leadership and supervisory skills
  • Advanced analytical problem solving and decision making abilities
  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures 
  • Strong communication (verbal and written) skills as well as high level organization skills is required 
  • Ability to work effectively with other roles in a team environment
  • Capability to adapt to changing priorities and workload in a fast-paced environment

Salary Range: $157,000 - $194,000

 

The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
