Supervisor, Light Vehicle Shop


Elkford, British Columbia, CA

Reporting to the General Supervisor, Process Maintenance, the Supervisor, Light Vehicle Shop is responsible for all areas of light/medium vehicle maintenance activity, and various support equipment across site. This role will operate on a 4x4 schedule rotation consisting of day shifts.

To be successful, we require someone with excellent communication and interpersonal skills who can coordinate the efforts of others to accomplish objectives; someone with the ability to effectively communicate, empower, and aid in professional development through effective coaching and mentoring. This person will multitask in a fast-paced environment with minimal direction, and collaborate well with others. Strong problem solving and decision-making abilities, and a passion for technology and continuous improvement would be essential for success in this role.

  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Lead and hold employees accountable in achieving maintenance goals, and maximize employee work performance and productivity through coaching and feedback
  • Oversee quality maintenance and repair of mine equipment to maximize availability and reliability
  • Ensure preventive maintenance and repair history is properly documented in AX Dynamics 
  • Assist in sourcing and requisitioning maintenance supplies, equipment and services within budgeted guidelines
  • Recommend asset replacement and rebuilds
  • Direct the troubleshooting of equipment failures to determine root cause and initiate appropriate remedial action
  • Manage daily and weekly work schedules to ensure work is complete on time and on budget through usage of Short Interval Controls and ensure Preventative Maintenance compliance
  • Supervise contractors and employees, improving employee work performance, efficiency, and perform performance evaluations
  • Follow-up on current jobs and assist tradespeople with troubleshooting
  • Manage Key Performance Indicators, such as downtime hours, schedule compliance, and labor factor



  • Trade certification, technical diploma, or degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience in maintenance and maintenance reliability in an industrial environment
  • Experience supervising or leading a team 
  • Familiarity with maintenance systems
  • Strong digital literacy and proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite®
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics AX would be an asset
