Maintenance Engineer, Business Improvement

Reporting to the Senior Engineering Supervisor, the Maintenance Engineer, Business Improvement (known at Teck as Maintenance Engineer) is responsible for supporting the mobile maintenance department including planning, scheduling, engineering, and execution teams with a combination of cost and business analyses, reporting, and digital tool development.

Responsibilities:

  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Manage key business reports and digital tools (such as PowerBI dashboards, and PowerApps) including development, optimization, quality control, automation, and implementation
  • Support the budgeting, forecasting, and cost management activities, including optimization and development of new processes
  • Develop analytical cost and labor models to support business decisions
  • Support the development, implementation and ongoing sustainment of digital maintenance applications including Maximo, OnPlan, Availability Workbench, and others
  • Provide training and support to all maintenance personnel that are working within Teck’s data systems and business tools, reports, and applications
  • Support the development, reporting, and analysis of Key Performance Indicators
  • Coordinate and collaborate with other sites and departments to identify best practices in business tools, digital enablement, and reporting

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Mining, Processing, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent technical degree
  • Eligible for, or working towards, registration with the Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia
  • Minimum of three years of experience in mining, truck, and shovel operations, industry reliability, or related industry fields
  • Advanced business acumen, specifically in financial literacy and mining process
  • Advanced user with Business Intelligence tools for data analysis and reporting such as PowerBI, Tableau, or similar
  • Demonstrated understanding of data management, data modeling, and data architecture including programing language such as SQL, R or Python
  • Advanced user with CMMS / EAM / Asset Management Software Platforms such as Maximo or Dynamics AX
