Advanced Process Control Engineer

Reporting to the Lead, Plant Continuous Improvement, the Process Control /APC Engineer is responsible for leading process control improvements that drive value. Working closely with the plant automation team, operations, and project teams, you will support design, implementation, and continued operation of control strategies in the DCS, plant PLCs and Advanced Process Control software.

Responsibilities:

  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Assist in the development and Sustainment of the processing MPC (multivariable predictive control) program
  • Provide technical support and reports for the maintenance, design and implementation of regulatory and advanced controllers and the real-time optimization of selected operational circuits, including configuring hardware/software infrastructure, conducting data analysis, controller monitoring, process modelling, benefit analysis and troubleshooting
  • Improve process control and automation by evaluating new technology and recommending solutions
  • •Analyze processes, equipment and review key targets to make recommendations on improved methods and optimization opportunities
  • Support plant Model Predictive Control implementation and sustainment


Qualifications:

  • Engineering Degree in a related field, with an Automation and Controls focus
  • Registered, or eligible to register, with Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia (EGBC); Teck will support eligible employees with their EGBC registration 
  • Three to five years of technical experience in a related processing environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Windows
  • Experience with PLC/DCS programming, regulatory and advanced control would be considered an asset

Salary Range: $101,000 - $125,000

 

The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.

 

Successful candidates must be willing to satisfy the pre-employment requirements of a pre-employment drug screen and three professional references.
