Project Coordinator - NewRange

Job Summary:

Reporting to the Project Group, the Project Coordinator is responsible for planning, coordinating and driving multiple projects. As the main point of contact for all information, the Project Coordinator will work with a range of customers in NewRange and our partners.

 

The successful candidate requires someone with a project coordination background who possesses excellent project management, organization, prioritization, and problem-solving skills. Additionally, the preferred candidate must have strong oral and written communication skills and excel at building strong relationships with various team members and be able to develop and implement project plans effectively. 

 

Overview:

Located in the historic iron range mining region of northeastern Minnesota, NewRange is a joint venture between Teck American Inc. (Teck) and PolyMet Mining Corp (PolyMet) that is advancing two major copper-nickel-platinum-palladium deposits, NorthMet and Mesaba. Project activities range from readying the feasibility stage NorthMet project for a production decision pending clearance of mine permits to advancing the nearby Mesaba project to pre-feasibility studies and permitting.  NewRange is committed to unlocking a new domestic supply chain of critical metals for the transition to a low-carbon economy and positioning Minnesota as a world leader in sustainable mineral resource development.

Responsibilities:

  • Be a courageous safety leader, leading by example and fostering a proactive safety and sustainability culture based on the common values on health, safety, environment, and communities shared by the asset owners.
  • Drive the successful completion of projects by coordinating and developing comprehensive plans for project deliverables, maintaining, and monitoring project schedules, resourcing, risk, performance, and budgets.
  • Research materials and executes assignments under minimal supervision and direction.
  • Collaborate and engage with project partners and ensure established policies and procedures are followed. Communicate regular status updates including potential risks or issues.
  • Monitor and track jobs in progress ensuring work quality, efficiency and adherence to applicable safety and environmental regulations.
  • Control and monitor project costs and assist with budgeting to ensure budget guidelines are met, effective decisions are made by customers and opportunities for cost reduction are identified.
  • Complete the necessary documentation, reports and procedures for continuity and evaluation of work.
  • Work alongside the engineering team to develop plans and participate in reviewing scopes of work.
  • Ensure quality assurance procedures are implemented and adhered to.
  • Provide technical expertise to assist in resolving issues.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate degree in engineering
  • Registered for or have passed the fundamentals of engineering exam through Minnesota Board of AELSLAGID.
  • Minimum three years of experience in a project management or an engineering capacity, including all aspects of engineering, permitting, and construction.
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills and the ability to balance multiple priorities.
  • Effectively communicates both oral and written and demonstrates strong interpersonal skills.
  • A great team player who is able to work competently with people at all levels of the organization.
  • Independent, self-motivated, able to take the initiative to liaise with other departments and/or external sources.
  • Valid drivers' license.
  • Strong digital proficiency, especially in the Microsoft Office Suite®, MS Project, AutoCAD and Visio.
