Lead, Project Planning, RACE21

Reporting to the Program Manager-Innovation and Technology and as a member of the Project Management Office, the Lead, Project Planning will implement project planning and scheduling methods, procedures, and systems on a program of technology projects.  Included also are resource planning and integration activities with cost control, progress measurement and change management functions.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Develop and maintain a program master schedule
  • Facilitate planning workshops to set up project master schedules and define interfaces among projects
  • Develop and maintain a program level resource plan
  • Prepare and execute the program scheduling management plans.
  • Assist with preparation of the overall Program Control Plans.
  • Analyze the impact of project changes on the program and project schedules and participate in the project change management process
  • Support the preparation of the various Teck periodic status reports.
  • Guide the set-up of progress and performance measurement systems and support project with progress and performance measurement.
  • Perform quality reviews on project schedules. Recommend corrective actions and supervise their implementation.  Integrate project schedules into overall program master schedule.
  • At the completion of the project, assist with the development and recording of the project’s historical cost information and “lessons learned”, for use on future projects.

 

Qualifications:

  • 10-15 years’ experience in Project Planning Roles is required
  • Experience in Project Planning roles on Program and/or Portfolio of digital technology projects is preferred
  • Experience in agile project managment preferred
  • Undergraduate degree in related disciplines is preferred
  • Excellent knowledge of project management theory, especially in time and cost management, is required.
  • Strong understanding in the areas of project planning, activity duration estimating, CPM schedule preparation, schedule analysis and schedule system application are essential
  • Experience in progress measurement and earned value measurement systems is preferred
  • Hands on experience in developing and progressing resource loaded schedules in Primavera is required
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point and Project scheduling software. 
  • Good with data and attention to detail
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Strong critical thinking and problem solving abilities
  • Ability to work independently and demonstrate a high level of initiative is required
