Director, Enterprise FP&A and Finance Business Partner (Energy)

 

Reporting to the Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, the Director, Enterprise Financial Planning & Analysis and Finance Business Partner (Energy) is a key member of both the Finance and Energy business unit leadership teams. In addition to providing insight regarding the financial health of Teck and optimizing enterprise-wide planning and resource allocation outcomes, this exciting position will be responsible for progressing key strategic priorities, developing and implementing short- and long-term plans and forecasts, and providing business intelligence and decision support to senior leadership within the Energy BU to deliver on financial targets and maximize total shareholder return.

Responsibilities

 

Finance Function:

  • Member of the Finance leadership team
  • Promote and role model desired culture of the Finance team
  • Talent management, coaching & people development within respective team
  • Develop and drive consistency and standardization of FP&A best practices across the organization including planning, budgeting and forecasting, and management reporting, including standardizing where appropriate KPIs to which BUs and corporate functions’ performance is assessed
  • Steward enterprise-wide capital prioritization, total shareholder return analysis and management reporting
  • Bring an enterprise-level perspective to business plans, challenge assumptions made by BUs/ functions and develop recommendations of priorities for the best investments and initiatives for Teck

 

Energy Business Unit:

  • Member of Energy BU leadership team
  • Promote and role model Teck’s culture and values, with a focus on the delivery of safe and sustainable business outcomes
  • Support the Energy Senior Management Team in decision-making related to strategic, financial, commercial, and operational objectives as well as associated growth opportunities across the value chain
  • Act as primary point of contact for Energy leadership into Finance SMEs and support (e.g., accounting, finance operations, tax, treasury)
  • Provide strategic advice and support to the Energy SVP and Directors in driving the right performance management metrics and KPIs within the Energy BU
  • Provide strategic advice and support to the Energy SVP and Directors in managing joint ventures/ partnerships, including at the Fort Hills Oil Sands Mine
  • Primary point of contact for finance to Energy joint venture partners, for example on performance data and financial reporting

 

Qualifications & skills:

  • A professional finance designation (e.g., CPA, CFA, CA, or CMA) or MBA 
  • Undergraduate degree in business, finance/ accounting, or engineering preferred
  • 10-15 years of progressive senior level experience in finance-related roles
  • Mining, or other capital-intensive industry experience is strongly preferred
  • Experienced in Power BI, Tableau or other data analytics/ visualization platforms
  • Familiarity with ERP systems
  • Advanced analytical, strategic planning, organizational abilities, and commercial and financial acumen
  • Proven ability to prioritize, work under pressure with minimal guidance
  • Advanced problem solving and decision-making abilities
  • Proven collaboration and teamwork skills with a customer & consultation focus
  • Demonstrated leadership, superior interpersonal, communication, negotiation and relationship management skills
  • Demonstrated skills in managing a diverse set of internal and external stakeholders
  • Demonstrated executive presence & influence
