Advisor, Human Resources

The Advisor, Human Resources will help Teck attract, develop, and engage world class talent by delivering exceptional Human Resources services through partnerships with their business client groups that supports and drive both day-to-day and strategic HR priorities. This will include recruitment and selection, employee relations, compensation and benefits,  talent management, and employee retention activities.


  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures.
  • Create and maintain pro-active, effective and trusting relationships with business leaders and employees to provide advice, guidance and counsel on HR matters.
  • Develop a strong partnership with client groups in order to work collaboratively and support achievement of group objectives.
  • Continually engage in employee relations matters to ensure concerns are addressed in a fair and timely manner.
  • Coordinate recruitment processes, including development of position descriptions and postings, resume short listing, interviewing, reference checking, offer letter preparation, reporting, and onboarding.
  • Drive and support employee development and training programs through communication, education and recommendation of various internal and external programs.
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and administration of human resources policies and procedures to ensure compliance with employment law.
  • Administer annual compensation review program and group benefits plan.
  • Engage with employees to support Teck’s values.
  • Provide professional and administrative support support for the company’s Performance Management and Development programs.
  • Conduct new employee onboarding and orientations.
  • Generate regular and ad hoc reports on specific HR metrics.
  • Support the entry of employee data (hires, changes, benefit administration, and terminations) into the Company’s HR systems by providing accurate and timely data.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business or Organizational Development.
  • A minimum of 5-7 years of broad Human Resources experience in either generalist or multiple specialist roles; experience in labour relations an asset.
  • Ability to confidently interact throughout all levels of the organization, from front-line employees to senior executives.
  • Knowledge of compensation and benefits industry practices, processes and principles.
  • Recruitment and resourcing experience in professional and technical roles within the resources and mining sector.
  • Experience creating and delivering presentations for training, communication, and knowledge sharing purposes.
  • Technical, comprehensive understanding of integrated Human Resources Information Systems.
  • Advanced computer skills (MS Office Suite applications).
  • Experience in or working knowledge of applicable employment and benefit laws and legislation including Human Rights legislation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong customer service, problem solving, organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to operate with very high levels of integrity and confidentiality.
  • Ability to prioritize workload in a fast paced environment.
  • Demonstrates Teck’s commitment to safety and sustainability.
