Requirements and Qualifications

 

Reporting to the Lead, Indigenous Initiatives, the Social Responsibility Co-op will be responsible for assisting with the overall function and daily operations of the Sparwood Social Responsibility team. In addition to supporting Social Responsibility functions, this position will specifically provide support to Teck’s Indigenous relationships and agreement management initiatives.

 

Successful candidates will have the following qualifications and responsibilities:

 

  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Assist the Social Responsibility team to ensure efficient, effective and smooth operations
  • Support all aspects of department functions including the coordination of deliverables, project management tasks as well as meeting with external stakeholders
  • Be responsible for document management with various data management tools such as; TrackLine and SiteLine
  • Support Indigenous agreement implementation including meeting preparation, records and related document management
  • Currently pursuing a Social Science, Business, Indigenous Studies Degree or relevant diploma, is considered an asset
  • Successful candidates must be motivated self-starters, able to work under minimal supervision and be able to manage several projects simultaneously
  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills with exceptional problem solving and organizational skills
  • Indigenous relations, social responsibility or natural resources experience is preferred
  • Comprehensive computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite®: Outlook, Word and Excel
  • Ability to multitask, and manage priorities to meet deadlines in a fast-paced and demanding environment

All students will be required to complete pre-employment drug testing prior to commencing work.
