Senior Lead, Reclamation

Reporting to the Manager, Biodiversity and Closure, the Senior Lead, Reclamation is responsible for driving reclamation strategy, planning, and implementation activities for operations in the Coal business unit, including supporting all Elk Valley site-specific major (operational) permitting applications. You will lead and supervise a team of professionals responsible for delivery of annual and long-term reclamation implementation plans, cost tracking, and cost projection planning across our operations in the Elk Valley, and for coordination with our other operations in BC and Alberta.

Responsibilities:

  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Lead the development and delivery of annual results-focused work plans for reclamation planning, project management controls and resource allocation plans
  • Develop, implement, and track budgets on an annual basis and provide senior input and strategic advice on budget decisions and allocations
  • Develop annual reclamation reports, five year mine plan, and reclamation plans in collaboration with operations and future development projects
  • Interact with regulators, local Indigenous Nations, and mine personnel to resolve issues and advance sustainable reclamation programs
  • Oversee decommissioning and reclamation provision budget and scheduling process
  • Manage the strategy and implementation schedule of large-scale reclamation projects to support ongoing operations, future development projects and regional initiatives
  • Identify areas for innovation to ensure continuous improvement of reclamation processes
  • Develop, attract, and retain a diverse team of highly motivated and effective professionals

 

Qualifications:

  • Science or Engineering degree or diploma, in an environmental-related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum seven years demonstrated ability in senior reclamation and project management roles in the natural resource sector
  • Technical knowledge and demonstrated experience in reclamation planning and leading large-scale reclamation or remediation projects
  • Experience supervising or leading a team
  • Solid understanding of provincial and federal regulatory approvals practices, legislation, and regulations
  • Solid understanding of the BC Mines Act would be an asset
  • Ability to provide critical review of regulatory submissions
  • Experience working with Indigenous Nations, regulatory agencies, and local communities
