Project Coordinator, Autonomous Haulage Systems

Reporting to the Senior Project Lead, Autonomous Haulage Systems, the Project Coordinator, Autonomous Haulage Systems (AHS) is responsible for serving as a primary resource for project support activities supporting the project and operations teams. This role is accountable for coordinating, planning, and execution activities within the Elkview Operation.

Responsibilities:

  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Maintain, implement, and demonstrate Teck’s commitment to Health, Safety, Environmental, and Community (HSEC) protection as a core value
  • Plan and schedule the project, as well as track progress, to successfully deliver on project milestones
  • Establish and maintain cost control activities
  • Create and maintain project management documentation
  • Create project progress updates to be delivered to project manager and steering committee
  • Ensure that project decisions are defined and coordinated with operations, maintenance, and construction contractors
  • Support the site AHS project team and site contractors in development of work plans
  • Facilitate personnel, material, and equipment requests between projects, contractors, and operations
  • Coordinate with Teck Elkview Operations stakeholders and departments
  • Transfer learning from actual project implementation into the improvement of company policies and procedures
  • Be knowledgeable of the applicable codes and standards for the project
  • Complete administrative duties appropriate and necessary for the smooth implementation of the role

Qualifications:

  • University degree or diploma in business, engineering, project management, or related field
  • Minimum five years of mining, project management, construction, and field experience
  • Project experience coordinating with mine and mill operations groups would be considered highly valuable
  • Project experience as an owner’s team representative or as an Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Management (EPCM) contractor
  • Training and experience in project management systems and an understanding of multiple phases of project execution
  • Understanding, and can discuss, application of project procedures
  • Advanced understanding and experience in aspects of project controls, scope management, and quality management
  • Results-oriented with excellent organizational, planning, and decision making skills
  • Proficient in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Systems, as well as the Microsoft Office Suite®; Project, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Effectively plans work in areas of responsibility
  • Motivated self-starter, able to work under minimal supervision, and be able to manage several tasks simultaneously
  • Excellent interpersonal skills as well as excellent oral and written communication skills
