Monitor Technician

Reporting to the Senior Supervisor, the Monitor Technician is responsible for the management of all dumps to ensure safe operating conditions in accordance with Geotechnical Standard Practices and Procedures. This position follows a 4x4 days and nights schedule with 12-hour shifts, but is subject to change based on operational requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Lead all aspects of dumps including personnel, equipment, and procedures to maintain high safety and efficiency standards, with a lens of continual improvement
  • Check dumps visually to ensure monitors are accurately placed and setup
  • Move and setup monitors where required
  • Enter and download information from NOMAD and analyze data (electronic reader)
  • Advise Senior Supervisor and Pit Supervisor if monitors are past movement criteria
  • Complete and refine Autonomous Haulage System (AHS) surveys as required to manage load, dump, and road locations
  • Collaborate closely with the AHS Central Controller and Pit Supervisor by monitoring the loading and dumping areas, assessing operating conditions, defining obstacles and ensuring accurate controls are used to protect people working in the Autonomous Operating Zone (AOZ)
  • Complete audits as required in the AOZ and conventional operation
  • Work with other AHS team members to manage hazards and potential issues for the system
  • Work closely with key groups: Mine Operations Supervisor, AHS Central Controller, the Geotechnical Team, and Mine Engineering

 

Qualifications:

  • Minimum two years of relevant open pit mining experience
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite®
  • Knowledge or exposure to autonomous haulage systems would be an asset
