Geologist

Reporting to the Project Geologist, the Geologist is responsible for data management, interpretation, and geological modeling for the FRX project, facilitating the regulatory, planning, and ultimately, predevelopment activities prior to mining.

 

To be successful we require someone with strong communication and interpersonal skills, who is able to build relationships in a team and with people of varying backgrounds. Someone who is detail oriented, analytical and organized.

Responsibilities:

  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Support planning of the geology drilling program to meet the objectives of the current project phase according to Teck’s project deliver framework
  • Manage any coal or rock samples once the samples have been processed by the exploration team and starting in the analytical process
  • Complete detailed review and interpretation of all geologic information
  • Complete QAQC on all current and historical data including examining historical data for outliers and questionable data
  • Process the update of the Fording River geological model, either on the regular business unit planning cycle or for interim updates to support the project
  • Coordinate with the project team, central Geoscience group, and Fording River Geology department
  • Coordinate with internal and external geotechnical groups in support of the separate geotechnical and structural models

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology or Engineering with a concentration in Mining, Mineral Processing, Metallurgical, Chemical, or Process Technology
  • Minimum two years of demonstrated ability, preferably with a portion in mining or heavy industrial environment
  • Registered, or eligible to register, with the Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia
  • Strong digital literacy, with experience in database and geological modeling software’s, including statistical analysis tools
