Field Assistant - 2019 Field Season

We are currently seeking individuals for the role of Field Assistant for the 2019 Field Season.

 

These openings are seasonal, varying in term from 2-9 months and typically beginning in April. These positions are focused on early stage through to near mine Sedex zinc projects.

 

The position will report to the designated Senior Geologist, Senior Project Geologist, or Project Geologist for the assigned project.

 

About Red Dog 
Red Dog Operations is one of the world's largest zinc mines, located about 170 km north of the Arctic Circle in Northwest Alaska, near Kotzebue. We are currently exploring in the Red Dog district, where we have 350 km2 of highly prospective land.

 

Red Dog is a fly-in, fly-out site with typical rotation schedules being 14 days on and 7 days off or 14 days on and 14 days off. Transportation from your home to site will be provided as will meals and accommodations while you are onsite or in transit. Accommodations will be in camp facilities. Travel to site may include commercial and charter flights, a layover in Anchorage, and shuttle buses. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures. 
  • General support for geoscience aspects of exploration programs in the field.
  • Assist in the execution of field work, including but not limited to mapping, geochemical sampling, core handling, geophysical surveying.
  • Performing data entry and maintaining accurate records and entries.
     

Qualifications:

  • Typically enrolled in a geoscience-related undergraduate program, generally specializing in geology, geochemistry or geophysics.
  • 0-4 years of related seasonal experience.
  • Ability to work in remote or challenging physical environments, including hiking in undeveloped terrain with gear.
  • Ability to work a rotation schedule and live onsite in a camp environment. 
  • Legally entitled to work in the USA.
