Reporting to the Lead, Environmental Performance, the Performance Coordinator, Environment is responsible for supporting the implementation of an environmental compliance and performance improvement strategy at Fording River Operations (FRO). This role is important in advancing continual improvement onsite to proactively mitigate environmental risks.
To be successful, we are looking for someone with strong leadership abilities, who can excel in a multi-functional team environment with nominal supervision; someone with excellent written and verbal communication, who can effectively build and foster relationships while engaging with communities of interest and professionals at all levels of the organization for the purpose of influencing and implementing continuous improvement. In addition, strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills as well as the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment are vital for this role.

Responsibilities:
- Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
- Collaborate with, and develop and maintain working relationships with, various disciplines and departments, as well as external agencies and communities of interest
- Develop training and awareness materials and deliver presentations to various departments
- Conduct effectiveness reviews, assurance checks and proactively identify areas needing improvement
- Coordinate multidisciplinary problem-solving sessions related to compliance and known risk sources to implement a variety of corrective and preventive action plans
- Track and report on progress against performance metrics and various corrective action plans
- Provide visible felt leadership through frequent collaboration between departments
Qualifications:
- Degree or diploma in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Biology, Forestry, Agriculture, or a related field
- Registered, or eligible to apply as a qualified professional such as RP BIO, P.Eng., RPF or related designation is an asset
- Experience providing technical direction on environmental risks and challenges associated with resource management
- Comfort with influencing and supporting practical and process change across various disciplines and departments
- Technical knowledge of federal and provincial compliance practices and regulations is an asset
- Experience with environmental data management, analysis, reporting, and utilizing databases is an asset
