Reporting to the Lead, the Mining/Electronics Technician, is responsible for monitoring and maintaining all aspects of the active payload management systems on multiple loading units in support of the Payload Management initiative for RACE21™. This role has a focus on supporting our Fording River Operations in their efforts to optimize the haulage fleet load capacity to suit Teck’s operational needs from a safety and productivity perspective, so that ultimately all efforts result in long term business value.

Someone who has strong analytical, logistical, trouble-shooting, and problem-solving skills, who can function at a high level in both individual and team settings. The ability to prioritize conflicting demands in a fast-paced and dynamic environment is vital.

Responsibilities:

  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Complete daily in-depth system health checks, and establish daily operator engagement to ensure all end user issues are identified and addressed immediately
  • Initiate deep dive investigations into more complicated payload system issues as needed, including engaging with third party support
  • Consult with shovel maintenance planning teams to avoid impact to payload systems due to planned or unplanned work
  • Oversee scheduled and unscheduled maintenance execution including but not limited to calibrations, cable repairs, and bail box swaps
  • Engage and liaise with all Payload Management related procurement vendors
  • Identify and drive continuous improvements to payload systems
  • Coordinate with original equipment manufacturers to identify and execute optimal payload maintenance strategy
  • Optimize loader payload system reliability and data reporting infrastructure

 

Qualifications:

  • Mining or Electronics Technician diploma or equivalent education and experience
  • Minimum of five years of experience in mining
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Power BI, CMMS an asset
