Mine or Civil Engineer or Engineer-in-Training

Reporting to the Senior Mining Engineer Supervisor, the Mine or Civil Engineer or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) is responsible for working with a group of hardworking professionals to support the mining operations. In this role you will have the opportunity to work onsite in various roles to further your development. The roles may include; dispatch engineering, short range planning, drill and blast engineering, among others.

Responsibilities:

  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Develop safe, optimized, and credible mine plans that align with our safety culture, sustainability strategy, environmental commitments, strengthens collaboration, reduces risk, increases shareholder confidence, and is integrated with the other business areas
  • Integrate water quality, biodiversity goals, community values and Indigenous perspective supporting sustainable mine planning and Industry stewardship
  • Help with the development, tracking, and reporting of compliance of mine permits
  • Perform economic evaluations, productivity analyses, and assist with capital expenditure documentation
  • Work in wide ranges of mine planning and design, including pit and dump design, traditionally operated and autonomous fleets, production scheduling, and optimization
     

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering
  • Eligible for registration or registered with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of B.C. (EGBC); Teck will support eligible employees with their EGBC registration 
  • Strong digital literacy in mining related software
  • Experience in a mining environment; previous experience in open pit, truck and shovel operations is an asset

Successful candidates must be willing to satisfy the pre-employment requirements of a pre-employment drug screen and three professional references.
