Architect, Cyber Risk

Reporting to the Director, Information Security, the Architect, Cyber Risk will be responsible for the assessment, measurement and reporting of cyber risk across Teck.


Teck places great importance on the development and execution of a risk based cyber security program. In order to execute on that program assessment, measurement and communication of risk must be consistent, clear, and delivered in a consumable way to the intended audience.


To be successful, the Architect will come from a unique experience in IT and information security, and must possess outstanding communication skills, both written and oral targeting diverse corporate and operational audiences.


Maintaining a well secured environment is essential to ensuring that everyone goes home safe and healthy every day!




  • Risk Assessment: assess deployed systems and projects to identify risks and recommend appropriate risk mitigation actions to appropriate teams. This will include:
    • Representing the cyber security function on a number of IT governance boards, including the Change and Vulnerability Advisory Boards
    • Conducting Vendor Risk Assessments for critical vendors
    • Assessing internal systems and applications to identify risk and develop remediation plans with the system owners
    • Conducting Project Risk Assessments for new projects to help the project team identify and mitigate risk early in the project lifecycle
  • Risk Measurement: manage the measurement of cyber risk across Teck by applying the FAIR methodology for risk quantification and ensure the maintenance and update of the loss tables supporting the risk calculations.
  • Risk Reporting: maintain the departmental risk list, and ensure it is communicated in line with corporate standards. The Architect will also be responsible for the communication of risk to affected departments and the senior management team in a clear, concise manner.



  • 10+ years IT infrastructure experience, 5+ of those at the architectural level
  • 5+ years cyber security expertise
  • Experience in risk assessment and quantification
  • CISSP, CISM or similar information security certifications
  • Certification in FAIR or another similar risk quantification framework
  • Interpersonal Skills and Emotional Intelligence
  • Effective time management skills, effectively balancing many different tasks
  • Ability to work in a rapidly changing, dynamic environment
  • Ability to communicate in Spanish (written/verbal) would be a strong asset
