Project Engineer (Contract)

Reporting to the Project Manager, the Project Engineer is responsible for supporting in the technical and operational management of various projects in the Central SPO Group’s portfolio of projects. You will collaborate and work towards common goals with a diverse group of colleagues in the technical services and operating departments, as well as external contractors in projects through all phases from execution and handover to operations.

Responsibilities:

• Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
• Lead and coordinate strategic planning and front-end processes, including defining project objectives, evaluating opportunities, optimizing project concepts, managing engineering activities, mitigating risks, and integrating operational requirements into projects
• Support project execution by identifying and managing risks, updating key project documentation, and communicating timelines to stakeholders, including achievements, deadlines and deliverables 
• Manage project delivery from planning to closeout, ensuring safety, communication, procurement, quality control, and adherence to project management processes
• Coordinate with internal and external engineers to produce required engineering deliverables and ensure compliance with Teck’s Project Delivery Framework
• Ensure compliance with project management processes
• Facilitate efficient decision-making processes by gathering information, evaluating risks, and providing recommendations aligned with project objectives
• Monitor project status and report progress to customers and collaborators, implementing cost and productivity improvement initiatives by leveraging best practices and insights from previous projects and Teck’s Lessons Learned Database
• Collaborate with external vendors to ensure timely and budget-conscious project delivery

Qualifications:

• Degree in Engineering or Engineering Diploma within a subject area related to Mining, Mechanical or Processing or a related field
• Registered, or eligible to register with Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia (EGBC); Teck will support eligible employees with their EGBC registration
• Demonstrated experience in project engineering within a heavy industrial environment preferably mining including experience in all aspects of project delivery and managing resources both internal, external contractors and consultants
• Knowledge of relevant codes, standards, and regulations with the ability to read and understand technical documentation, such as civil, mechanical and electrical drawings
• Knowledge of project management standards and there application at various stages of project development and scopes of practice
• Digital literacy with the Microsoft Office Suite® 
• Excellent project management skills including experience with brown field projects is an asset
   

Salary Range: $80.00 - $100.00 / Hour

The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.

Successful candidates must be willing to satisfy the pre-employment requirements of a pre-employment drug screen and three professional references.
