Attendance Coordinator, Human Resources

Reporting to the Superintendent, Human Resources, the Attendance Coordinator, Human Resources (Temporary) is responsible for taking calls from employees that are unable to attend work each day and following up directly with them regarding the various sick leave provisions for Elkview Operation. This is a temporary 12-month position which operates on a 4x4 rotational schedule of 10-hour day shifts.

Responsibilities:

Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
Be the main contact for employees who are unable to attend work
Ask questions and provide direction to employees calling in regarding sick leave and other leave provisions
Communicate with supervisors on the status of employees unable to attend work and provide updates on any requirements upon their return to work
Monitor and track attendance and identify any pattern or excessive absenteeism
Work with the Disability Management Advisor to support claims related to occupational (WorkSafe BC) and non-occupational disability claims (SunLife)
Support and assist operational departments on the appropriate usage of leave entitlements, benefits administration, and recruitment

Qualifications:

Diploma in Human Resources, Business, or a related field, or a relevant combination of schooling and experience
Experience in a call center or similar environment accepting phone calls, coordinating details and providing direction to customers
Prior experience in a medical field background is an asset
Solid understanding of applicable employment, benefits, laws, and legislation – training provided
Strong digital literacy and proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite®; Word, Excel, Outlook

Salary Range: $60,000 - $68,000

The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.

Successful candidates must be willing to satisfy the pre-employment requirements of a pre-employment drug screen and three professional references.
