Analytical Chemistry Co-op Student

For this role, we are looking for a student who is studying Chemistry (Analytical or Inorganic) or Natural Sciences. There will be an opportunity for this student to work in a hands-on lab environment and to get more experience with method validation, improvement, and optimization. Proof of a valid work permit will also be required, if applicable.

Trail Operations is one of the world’s largest fully integrated lead-zinc smelting and refining complexes. This site has over 26 different operating plants and processes concentrates and other materials from around the world to produce more than 290,000 tpy of refined zinc and 70,000 tpy of refined lead.

Responsibilities

  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures 

  • Perform laboratory assays in various laboratory facilities 

  • Prepare laboratory samples for shipment 

  • Assist with method development and validation for project specific lab work  

  • Conduct data review and analysis 

 

Qualifications

 

  • Working towards an Undergraduate degree or diploma in Chemistry (Analytical or Inorganic), or Natural Sciences 

  • Ability to communicate with precision in a technical environment  

  • Ability to articulate complex concepts clearly and in a way a diverse audience would understand  

  • Ability to track and analyze data as well as manage project timelines 

  • Able to work effectively independently as well as part of the team  

  • Strong digital literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite 

 

 

Wage Range: $4000 - $5200 / Month

Salary is commensurate with the number of academic semesters and prior co-op experiences completed.
